Sandy beaches in Croatia
Although the lartest part of Croatia’s beaches are pebble beaches, there are some beautiful sandy beaches, too. The most popular ones are probably those of Lopar (on Rab island) and Crikvenica.
However, there are several other sandy beaches, e.g. in the area of Omis (approx. 25 km south of Split). The ca. 1 km long beach lies at the end of the canyon formed by the river Cetina. Omis itself has a lively old town with several restaurants and bars.
The beach in front of the campsite Simuni on Pag island is a real insider tip. Not only the sand is wonderful there, you also find shady spots thanks to numerous trees.
If you prefer to hide away from lively touristic areas you might like the cosy bays on Molat island. Almost no traffic, lots of small sandy bays – this makes Molat the ideal destination for a relaxing holiday in Croatia.
On the peninsula of Peljesac, in the area of the lively little town of Orebic, you can also find numerous sandy bays. Some people say those beaches are the most beautiful beaches of Dalmatia.
