Posedarje, a village and small harbour on the north-western coast of the
Novigrad Sea, 25 km northeast of
Zadar. It was first mentioned in 1219. Chief occupations are farming, growing of
vines and vegetables, fishing, cultivation of crustaceans and tourism.
The coast abounds in mussels and oysters. The sea near the village is shallow (detritus of the Bascica brook) and the coast is low.
Posedarje has sand and pebble beaches; off-shore are three small islets. The parish church of the Holy Rosary is an older structure,
restored in Baroque style in 1700. There is also the Romanesque church of the Assumption of Mary from the 12th-13th century.
